  • Border Surveillance

    Recent years has seen areas such as the US Southern border experience dramatic increases in the amount of armed drug/immigrant smuggler, requiring more heightened levels of security. In addition, at borders all across the world, there is an additional concern of late with regard to a high risk of terrorist activity and drug/human trafficking. Actionable intelligence is paramount to patrols in the field, but the surveillance technologies providing this to border officials face a lot of environmental challenges in these remote locations such as exposure to high heat and other harsh weather conditions. Detection and tracking technologies must also face highly cluttered environments at times from the natural surroundings like local wildlife, tumbleweeds, etc. The geography itself can present its own intricacies as a line of sight is not always available with rugged hills sometimes part of the landscape’s fabric.

  • Drone/ Small UAV Detection

    Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, commonly known as drones, have seen a dramatic rise in popularity over the course of the last decade, making small UAVs accessible to the general public for both commercial and recreational use. The FAA predicts the number of individual UAVs flying in the US to be as many as 30,000 by 2020. Given the recent number of incidents involving UAVs flying near or landing on critical infrastructures the world over - the White House, the Golden Gate Bridge, nuclear sites in France, prison facilities to transport contraband, the Prime Minister of Japan's office, to name a few - the figure from the FAA is alarming. While traditional security measures like radars or acoustic sensors have been unsuccessful in detecting the small electromagnetic signature and low speed of micro or small UAVs, infrared thermal technology is able to fulfill the task in detecting these threats at a distance to prevent harm to people or damage to critical infrastructures. 

  • Prison Surveillance

    Conventional security solutions such as fixed cameras, perimeter fencing, have up until recently been adequate enough to effectively monitor the outside of a prison yard, but recent trends in the popularity of UAVs (drones) has also seen this spill over into prison security. Now, illegal contraband - cell phones, drugs or cigarettes - is finding its way into prisons over the perimeter fencing into the prison yard with drone drops. Inmates use these precious items to continue their criminal enterprises while still behind bars, presenting a multitude of dangerous situations for the guards, other inmates and the general public who live in the vicinity of the correctional facility. Traditionally, dozens of fixed cameras were installed to attempt to cover the complete 360-degree perimeter of a prison yard which produces an over-inflated cost for system acquisition, maintenance, and training. 

  • Critical Infrastructure Protection

    The past 10 years have seen terrorist threats on critical assets nationwide and national assets abroad on the rise, making intrusion detection and perimeter security a priority for the private sector and government alike. While traditional security measures such as CCTV cameras and patrols can help address these concerns, night surveillance requires additional surveillance equipment. Making security challenges even more difficult, each critical site’s environment is varied and can sustain high traffic at different times of the day from local staff, visitors, and animals that do not pose any real threat.

  • Airport / Airfield Surveillance

    At airports around the world, one of a security officials' main task is to protect the perimeter from incoming intruders and breaches by assessing and communicating any perceived threats, coordinating appropriate responses and gathering evidence for future forensic investigative purposes.
