Visible Camera Patterns
The familiar TV Test pattern and U.S. Airforce 1951 four bar patterns are
the most commonly used standards in determining the performance of visible imagers. A
series of pattern sizes and contrasts are used to determine the minimum resolvable number
of lines at a given contrast of the imager along with a number of other characteristics.
USAF 1951 patterns are chrome on glass and may be ordered with either
positive (black bars) or negative (clear bars). Contrast ratios from 10% to 100% are
available as either individual targets or multiple patterns on a single target.
The TV Test Pattern is 8" x 11.5" printed black on white film.
Horizontal and vertical ruling ranges from 200 to 800 TV lines.
